I don't know which antivirus you consider to be the best, but I personally use AVG antivirus because there is a full free version. There is a bigger version, but that is for businesses.
AVG gets really good ratings.

The only thing I can think of that is close to that trendmicro's software PC cillin. The software is pretty good, but the update feature is a pain in the ***. When it updates, it kicks you out of whatever you are doing. Yes, it kicks me out of gaming. However, on the plus side you can go to their site and do a virus check and removal for free. It runs inside of your browser and uses active x to do so, so make sure you allow it when you hit their site. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
