Would someone please tell me some spyware and antivirus programs that are completly free and 98 comp

My computer is running so slow and I keep getting a bunch of pop ups. I want to make sure that I dont have any harmful material on my pc. I have found a couple of programs but none that dont cost a dime and run on win 98. Please let me know if there are any programs out there. Thanks

as far as spyware... there's not as much for that.
